Job Description:
The Technical Writer will investigate, analyze, and compile the required technical data and other pertinent information to prepare clear and concise documentation to safely maintain, operate, and troubleshoot complex OEM capital equipment. Work directly with engineering, customers, technicians, and other technology experts to maximize utilization of current web-based and multi-media resources while communicating in the most efficient manner possible. The product is effective technical communications.
Essential Functions:

• Meet with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) including mechanical and electrical engineers, project managers, and assemblers to learn about and document the equipment and its functions.
• Plan and organize content and format of all manuals, including publishing the company's first standard for technical writing.
• Document technical information based on engineering drawings, contracts, schematics, order data sheets and technical specifications.
• Photograph machinery and create all graphic content.
• Proofread and edit work from other Technical Writers.
• Cross-check final documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Print, bind, copy, and mail finished product.
• Transfer copies of manuals electronically via Dropbox, burned CD, flash drive, etc. per customer preferences.
• Write and conduct tests for Engineering Turn Over Packages (ETOPs).
• Upload final manuals to SharePoint to make it easier for the international team to access technical documentation.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree

Required Skills / Experience:

• A Minimum of three years in technical writing or other related field
• Strong communication skills to work with SME's to learn and understand equipment and processes as well as the ability to understand target audience
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Ability to use Adobe FrameMaker or other similar software such as InDesign
• Solidworks - Ability to view, navigate, and understand 2D drawings and 3D models
• Ability to use Solidworks Composer to create graphic content from existing 3D models
• Related technical illustration/graphics experience
• Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
