Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Summary Role Description:
The Technical Writer also supports the organization and/or the customer by providing administrative support that includes editing and proof-reading work (manuals, reports, brochures or articles), presenting complex data in a clear and concise medium, and helping to meet deadlines.
Provides Support:
· Writes and edits technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals
· Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals
· Determines type of publication that will best serve the project requirements
· Coordinate efforts to solicit, collaborate, gather, organize and consolidate procedural approaches from around the organization.
· Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process
· Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines
Delivers Industry Leading Customer Service:
· Ensures every customer concern is addressed in a timely manner with a focus on customer satisfaction
· Approaches customer service with a long-term perspective that balances the needs of the customer and the company
· Pro-actively assists with assessing the needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding
· Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documents
Ensures a Safe Work Environment:
· Champions Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment for department
· Establishes tone and sets example for Safety Always attitude by ensuring that safety rules are followed, and that corrective action is taken when rules are broken
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 6 years related experience (and/or training)
· Construction background or experience is preferred
· Bi-lingual skills are preferred.
Skills:
· Proficient with Microsoft software programs such as Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work with and within groups of co-workers to gather input and develop document consensus
- Ability to work in a team environment
· Ability to provide strong customer service
- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
