This is a hybrid position and this client requires all contractors to either be fully vaccinated or has an acceptable exemption. Upon completion of training, may work up to 2 days per week remote; remaining days are in office.
Technical Writer / Editor Job Description
Work closely with the team to produce multiple outputs for product development.
Responsibilities include:
- Edit text for spelling, adherence to grammar rules and to style guidelines, and general clarity. Check organization and verify consistency in tone and presentation.
- Must be able to recognize nonstandard or confusing grammar, punctuation, and usage, and inconsistent abbreviations, and terminology. Identify inconsistencies in common outputs across product lines.
- Check images for accuracy, correct positioning, and layout.
- Use accepted proofreading techniques to rigorously compare documents with an edited markup for accuracy and conformance of content and format, and will use standard editorial and proofreading marks to indicate deviations.
- Verify that all required changes have been made.
- Collaborate with a team of writers (SMEs), editors, graphic designers, and information architects.
Education:
- Degree in English, Technical writing, or other writing related field or equivalent writing experience.
Skills:
- Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize patterns
- Good project management skills
- Highly organized person with interpersonal skills and the ability to manage their time
- Experience with XML (preferably DITA XML) a plus
- Experience with a Content Management System (preferably a component content management system) a plus
- Experience in medical device industry a plus
