Technical Support Engineer

CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Support Engineeropening for our client in Fairfax, VA.

Location: Must be located in Virginia/Maryland area (30 mi radius from IAD). May be traveling around during the position (some months may be up to 90%, others 50%). When not in the field they can work remotely from home. The majority of work will be in the field at customer sites.

Duration: 9 months

Overview:

The main function of the Technical Support Engineer is to provide Technical Support to customer technicians, who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, debugging, and maintaining products.

Job Responsibilities:

• Report design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineers/software engineering.

• Assist with customer installation and training.

• Provide support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.

• Apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.

• Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.

• Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software.

experience with OTDR testing

• Familiar with ISP and OSP network infrastructure- Inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP)

• Quick learner and positive work attitude

• Understanding network documentation and testing techniques

• Good communication skills

• Fiber Optic Testing

Education and Experience:

• 5+ years experience required.

• Degree preferred but not required.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
