Job Description:
Microchip is seeking a Technical Staff Engineer to manage a small team of Wireless Applications Engineers and contribute to supporting wireless products and solutions from Microchip's Wireless Solutions Group.
- Manage, guide, and coach a team of Wireless Applications Engineers with varying skill and experience
- Identify, define, and execute quarterly key results and MBOs per Wireless Solutions Group process
- Provide insight and analysis to management on next steps and strategic direction with respect to technical issues, solutions, and products
- Lead and represent Wireless Applications team in New Product Development projects
- Help clients resolve wireless systems issues
- Develop examples, solutions, training presentations, and technical documents
- Visit strategic clients to understand system requirements, showcase solutions, and trainings
- Train Microchip factory and field applications engineers worldwide
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 12 years' experience in wireless embedded systems design and development
- At least 2 years of experience leading a complex technical project and/or a small team of engineers
- Advanced programming skills in embedded C or C++
- Experience in one or more of following wireless software stacks and technologies - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IEEE802.15.4, and Zigbee
- Experience in microcontroller (MCU) based firmware development
- Experience in hardware-software bring-up and troubleshooting
- Experience in Jira, Confluence, and source control tools such as SVN, git, Bitbucket etc.
- Experience in microprocessor (MPU) and Linux is a plus
- Experience in client-facing roles and presentations
- Strong verbal and written abilities in English language
- Able to work with worldwide teams located across US and Asia
- About 15% travel is expected
