Position Overview

We are looking for a self-driven, motivated Senior Technical Project Manager to manage and execute multiple project initiatives that create and sustain comprehensive solutions to deliver a world-class customer experience. These deliverables are managed from project initiation to close-out/sign off, ensure the quality of deliverables and timely completion. The role reports within the Program Management Office and oversees large, high-budget customer's projects. The Technical PM will manage the day-to-day operational activities across various internal functional departments within Zones and with external customer's teams and vendors.These projects generally include those that are in a solutioned state / pre-start-up mode, pre-implementation phase or are in progress, in transition or post implementation state. This role ensures projects align with the business strategy, boosting productivity and scalability while improving profitability.

Key Responsibilities

The requirements listed below are representative for knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful as a Senior Technical Project Manager within Zones, LLC

TheSenior Technical Project Manageris primarily responsible for:

  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of large-scale, high budget projects across various internal cross- functional departments within matrix organization to successfully deliver all project phases/activities/deliverables from initiation to close out.
  • Supervise on site activities and provide status, manage, and mitigate risks, address change requests.
  • Manage various projects related to Data Centers infrastructure, Cloud solutions and transition to Managed Services.
  • Schedule, provide technical direction, guidance, and support for on-site resources.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing technical procedures based on understanding of new technologies.
  • Work with internal Sales and Procurement to make sure equipment is delivered on time, track shipments, organize the delivery of equipment on customer site.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans for major customer initiatives, review and get the buy in from internal and external teams and management.
  • Get the sign off from customer for completed milestones, project and billing.
  • Identify, negotiate, and allocate project resources for each of the project phases/activities and forecast their cost estimates.
  • Monitor actual project expenditures against project estimates and budgets.
  • Provide accurate and timely budget forecasting and reporting.
  • Work diligently to meet or exceed project budget profit targets.
  • Manage project activities through the effective use of project management principles and the specific methodologies adopted by the PMI and nfrastructure to achieve timely project completion and meet the defined project business objectives.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with internal and customer stakeholders through regular and proactively scheduled meetings and communication plans.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with the project sponsor/business owner to ensure that business objectives are met, and any changes are clearly communicated.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and customer's project team members, senior management, and other managers whose staff are involved in projects.
  • Present recommendations for effective consensus decision making, taking into consideration risk analysis and impact assessment for project milestones.
  • Conform to customer service level agreements (SLA's) to ensure decreased liability and penalties for not meeting SLA requirements.
  • Review the SOW with customer PM and technical teams the project goals and objectives, timeline and contractual responsibilities of both parties.
  • Use advanced technical knowledge to perform and apply new technical procedures.
  • Adhere to all Zones internal processes, contribute to brainstorming for potential improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are seeking candidates with the following experience and skills:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years Technical Project/Program Management experience
  • 5+ years Technical Project Management for large scale, complex IT/Telecommunications Infrastructure projects including Data Centers installations and migrations and Cloud solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer facing Project Management role.
  • Demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of complex business processes, technical platforms & solutions, and financial management.

Mandatory skills:

  • Proven track record of successfully managing large scale complex Technical Projects in a customer facing role using PMP methodologies and best practices; demonstrate a clear understanding of managing all phases of a project.
  • Ability to build detailed project plans, provide budget estimations, forecasting, resource allocation for all phases of the project.
  • Proficiency in budget analysis and a good understanding of the standard financial formulas to analyze earned value.
  • Experience managing projects with field-based deliverables, and practical experience with concepts such as technician utilization, ticket backlog, and workload balancing.
  • Experienced in effectively interacting with customer technical and management teams to set clear expectations to ensure project success. Ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills providing project status and communication reports, management executive summaries and presentations tailored for technical and business teams.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to achieve good coordination and end results.
  • Ability to manage changes effectively and proactively including project scope, time and/or resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership in proactively identifying risks, developing and implementing strategies that significantly mitigate risks.
  • Experienced in managing service level agreements (SLAs) with penalties, SOWs and PCRs.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, effectively prioritizing the execution of various tasks and projects.
  • Process oriented individual
  • Experience in equipment procurement, working with suppliers/vendors and partners.
  • Technical skills:
  • Data Centers installations/migrations and Cloud solutions experience is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of various IT and Telecommunication equipment such as CISCO switches and routers, Sentinel, Palo Alto firewalls, NetApp, VMs, SBA/SBCs.
  • IP and MPLS Connectivity, previous experience working with ISPs NSPs, MNOs
  • Servers, storage and backup implementations - Dell, HP, others
  • Experience with financial tools - ex: TENROX, SAP, Oracle
  • Proficient working with MS Suite - MS Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Smartsheets.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
  • PMP certification - mandatory.
  • ITIL, Agile, SixSigma is a plus.
