Job Description & Qualifications

As a Technical Program Manager at Ford Motor Company working in the In-Vehicle Infotainment and Connectivity group, you will have the responsibility of leading and managing complex engineering projects. In this role, you will lead a cross-functional team in the development and maintenance of various Infotainment software features from conception to product launch. You will own delivery of multiple features, define project goals and roadmaps, and drive technical issues to closure.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in product/Technical Program management on consumer, mobile, or automotive platforms.
  • 3+ years of professional experience planning, tracking, and managing software development and implementation, and executing software deliveries on a software team.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team software projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product/Technical Program management in complex systems.
  • 5+ years of professional experience planning and executing software deliveries in a software team.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and influence effectively at multiple levels, including senior management.
  • Technical experience in developing automotive infotainment system features.
  • Working knowledge of the software development life cycle, specifically as it applies to building a hardware product.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cross functional features and driving results across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated success building partnerships across a different teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills working with disparate data sources to create a comprehensive view and recommendations.
  • Experience estimating effort and sizing of work for successful delivery of multiple features.
  • Track record of making solid business and engineering tradeoffs to deliver business value.
  • Experience implementing organizational frameworks, standards, and processes.
  • Experience with the technical implementation details of infotainment features within a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: Android, QNX, Linux.

Responsibilities

  • Defines project goals and builds a delivery roadmap across future milestones, including staging technologies; builds strategies that optimizes project resources against priorities.
  • Ensures delivery of features with mid-term to multi-year time horizons, including managing the software development schedule and backlog.
  • Analyzes and converts customer requirements into actionable software specifications for multiple functional teams; identifies opportunities and gaps to improve.
  • Tracks and manages the software development and implementation of the core specifications by working with the software development and quality assurance teams.
  • Evaluates incoming feature requests and identifies future resource needs based on these requests.
  • Ensures implementation of Technical Success Metrics [including KPIs].
  • Frames decisions using data and leads the team to a conclusion with action plans.
  • Brings cross functional teams together and collaboratively manages relationships to create holistic, customer centric solutions.
  • Negotiates software feature changes with direct partner teams in order to meet project timing and quality metrics.
  • Identifies dependencies and works with cross functional teams to deliver required features.
  • Drives outstanding technical issues to closure. Anticipates, defines, and develops mitigations for program risks. Leads escalations.
  • Leads status reporting that spans multiple features and time horizons.
  • Proactively helps teams understand the technical implications of design decisions and their impact to feature quality and timing.
  • Runs retrospectives to understand team’s strengths and weaknesses and implements process changes to ensure continuous improvement.
