The Voice and Digital Assistant Technical Product Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, verification and certification of our Voice and Digital Assistant products as we integrate Google and Alexa SDKs into our products and vehicles.

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) will join a team of TPMs responsible for the suite of Ford Motor Company's Voice and DA products. As a member of the team, the TPM will work with, learn from, educate, and support other members of the team in a collaborative way. The TPM will be the expert of their domain and will be responsible for understanding the capabilities of the product and the way in which the capabilities will create or enable meaningful experiences for our customers. The TPM will be responsible for managing the product technical implementation, as well as the deliverables and approvals needed to ensure the successful delivery of the product, prioritizing quality, customer needs, cost and timing.  This is a hybrid position, and we anticipate the selected TPM to be onsite a few days/ week in Dearborn, MI. 

What you'll do....

  • Work with the Product Manager to define the goals of the product and the scope of what is required for a successful product delivery.
  • Work with internal and external teams and partners to define the scope of work required by all teams to ensure requirements are met, on-time, with reliability and quality.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that Failure Mode Avoidance documentation is completed as required.
  • Identify needs for integration with other features, platforms and/or systems to deliver the set of desired customer experiences.
  • Work with the development team to ensure that the stories are aligned in JIRA.
  • Work with the verification team to ensure that the product test plans are aligned in TestRail.
  • Work with any 3rd party partners to understand and manage the certification process for their products, ensuring that the certifying partner requirements are met, on-time. This may involve managing of internal certification tests or tests to be performed by certified third party laboratories.
  • Work with internal customers (the vehicle programs) to ensure that program milestones are completed as required.
  • Manage meetings and documentation as needed to ensure stakeholders have access to real-time information and other stakeholders as needed to ensure all physical deliverables as well as approvals are met.
  • Participate in grooming and prioritization of the backlog issues for their product.
  • Identify KPIs that are to be monitored and develop stories to ensure their successful implementation.
  • Collaborate effectively with their peers on other teams within engineering and development but also cybersecurity, consent, legal, marketing, product management, quality, manufacturing, project management, to ensure that all internal customer requirements are met.
  • Be hands-on, working with others on the team, as well as on other teams to manage the day-to-day resolution of issues and development of solutions to reduce development time (fail fast) and leverage time to ensure quality (get designs into testing and verification) prior to launch.
  • Ensure the product vision is being met, communicated, and adjusted where necessary throughout all phases of the product lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, analysis of user data, rinse, and repeat.
  • Have a sense of ownership and will take full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a quality product.

You'll have....

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience with automotive systems or software application engineering
  • 4+ years of experience with system requirement specification development
  • 1 + years' experience developing voice assisted applications with Cerence or similar technologies

Even better, you may have....

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electric Engineer or related field
  • Experience integrating Google Assistant and/or Alexa SDKs into automotive applications
  • Experience with speech and language-related system design
  • A track record of developing speech and language-related technology-reliant applications
  • A track record of developing complex system integrations involving cloud applications or hybrid automotive applications
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality system design documentation
  • Experience designing for complex workflow problems
  • Experience in Agile Scrum, JIRA cloud, JIRA Align
  • Experience building voice user interfaces or similar interactive assistance-related applications
