Job description

Chase Branded Cards, a key business in Chase's Consumer & Community Banking group, is the largest credit card issuer in the United States. Chase-issued credit cards are an integral part of millions of American wallets, giving customers rewards that matter to them, like cash-back with Freedom Unlimited, lower interest rates with Slate Edge, or rewards and access with Sapphire Preferred® and Sapphire Reserve®. As a product team leader, you will define and deliver the vision for how Chase Cards will innovate card products in the mass affluent segment. Along with your deep product experience, you will develop an end-to-end understanding of the business and the technology that enables it to bring improved products to market and engage our customers.
The Mass Affluent Segment is responsible for the Chase Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, Slate Edge, and related products that deliver cash back rewards and payment flexibility to Chase's customers. This role directly manages a team of product analysts who co-create with colleagues and design to define and refine intent into marketable products and features.
Your team is responsible for bringing our value propositions to life with technology and products that deliver innovative features and new card products to customers. On the team, you will manage both a suite of segment-related card product features as well as create and groom a robust backlog of initiatives to support business segment goals. Using the Bank's agile framework and engagement model, you will set the technology roadmap for the segment and then execute that roadmap to achieve business goals and delight our customers.
You and your team will be responsible for moving initiatives through discovery and to implementation. As a champion for transformation to agile, you will help set the course for the Card agile operating model through your partnership across the ecosystem. Using available tools and resources, you will help define the agenda and set the course for the segment product team.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct product development strategy and outcomes for the segment product(s), complexity/dependency, risk/compliance, and internal/external customer experience impact
  • Chart the customer journey for their area product and collaborate to define and address segmentation, marketing, and value proposition
  • Define and execute roadmaps aligned to overall segment strategy & vision using careful analysis of customer needs, intelligence, data/analytics, firm's capabilities and financials
  • Lead software product development and tech build to create quality and scalable features/solutions including contributing to team through the writing of user stories
  • Direct area product workflow through JIRA. Prioritizes and sequences backlog considering audit/controls, data landscape, data center migration, resiliency, etc., coordination of release dates and is responsible for area backlog and health as part of overall product
  • Solid understanding of underlying technology that supports product. This includes ownership for tech assets needed for product development with full view expectation to help support end-to-end ownership and the assumption of the tech debt that builds up over time based on decision making)
  • Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional product and area product leads. Engages and leverages key product group partners (Design, Engineering, Data/Analytics etc.) to create industry-leading capabilities and products
  • Leverage a strong understanding of credit card business, industry to develop new or refreshed existing products or product features
  • Build and maintain strong connections to product partners across the Card ecosystem
  • Navigate product priorities, customer expectations and relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the work is focused on the right things
  • Work closely with area product team to complete stories and with troubleshooting problems and developing recommendations/solutions
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Agile principles and processes with experience managing JIRA backlogs (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Highly organized and self-motivated who help designs customer-obsessed products, executes a product release plan, flexibly adapts to internal & market forces, and has influencing / relationship management skills.
  • This person will succeed by achieving goals supported by optimal digital experience, product performance KPI, time-to-market, internal and external stakeholder satisfaction.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Be a strong self-starter who can proactively engage with a virtual, cross-organizational team and demonstrate critical thinking without formal direction
  • Proven leadership in large, matrixed, complex organizations and programs
  • Expert in Agile tools and methods
  • 5+ years in Technological, Organizational and/or operational change management
  • Degree in Business Management or Computer Science, MBA a plus
  • Prior experience in stakeholder management, negotiation
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders to influence them to achieve product goals
  • Nimble thinker who is comfortable with change and creating structure from ambiguity or transformation
  • Customer mindset to support transformation
  • Prior experience with financial product development or refreshes
