We are currently hiring a Technical Product Manager, NPD Large Rooftopswho works within the product management team and collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver new products by assuring customer and business needs are satisfied. In this role, you will be directly involved with product development priorities, design details, and commercialization of Large Commercial Rooftop Units (RTU) products. Your support, influence and ownership of this work drives better customer experiences, technician effectiveness, sales account manager effectiveness and sustainable business practices for Trane and its customers.
The products you'll be working on are at the heart of efficient, sustainable buildings everywhere. This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite a week) and will be based out of our Clarksville, TN or St. Paul, MN office locations.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert, and owner of a new product development or existing product enhancement project through the full development life cycle. Advocate customer and business needs and resolve technical, schedule, resource, and business constraints.
  • Be accountable for effective product requirement management, which includes:
    • Developing and explicitly communicating business and technical needs.
    • Creating and clearly communicating product requirements.
    • Prioritizing product requirements based on customer value.
    • Ensuring that the product requirements are transparent, visible and understood.
  • Compile and analyze customer and business needs with Product Management teams based on market research, competitive analysis, business strategies, and product roadmaps.
  • Conduct voice of customer activities to identify customer, user, and business needs based on formal and informal activities. Collaborate with on-site and off-site engineering teams on concepts and feasibility for product designs.
  • Author product requirements and build common understanding with engineering, manufacturing and service team based on customer and channel input. Along with author and review documentation including IOMs, Catalogs. Training, technical and marketing literature.
  • Support development of training modules, webinars, and user literature. Along with present value propositions and feature overviews of products and systems in customer and sales office interactions. This includes teaching internal audiences (Product Support, Literature, Training, Product Communications, Marketing) about Large RTU products.
  • Support sales tool replication and enhancements, perform competitive analysis and participate in Customer visits.
  • Travel independently or in small teams up to 25%.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in system sales or field experience with RTU products.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to support others, especially when integrating with a new team and have the ability to cope with stress, change and pressure while maintaining a cooperative manner.
  • Perform mental tasks such as critical decision making, organizing many topics, prioritizing work to align with business objectives, and exercising good judgment.
  • Communicate user needs to highly technical audiences and be able to also break down highly technical topics to non-technical users.
  • Communicate compellingly in both written and oral presentation methods to corporate stakeholders, sales offices, and end customers.
  • Work regularly, dependably, independently, and accountably in a corporate culture.

Base Pay Range: $111,000 to $148,000.
Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
