Caterpillar is seeking a Technical Planning Manager position in Clayton, NC. In this role, you will lead of a team of Assembly Planners and CI Technicians to support Clayton Small Wheel Loader assembly processes, Smithfield tire assembly, and Clayton and Waco Logistics Node assembly.
What you can look forward to in this role:
- Responsible for training and development of team members and policy adherence
- Collaboration with downstream customers to support implementation of process improvements
- Directs the creation, implementation and training of standard work procedures
- Ensures timely shop floor support for CI Cards and build issue resolution
- Oversee CI Shop for safety, request prioritization and workload to meet business needs
- Manages PMA action items, SFMEA updates, process deviation updates
- Leads timely completion of engineering change notices and process improvement work
- Support operations during daily mid-shift meetings and defect resolution
- Conduct audits to ensure quality of work instructions
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Design Thinking : Knowledge of concepts, principles, and processes of design thinking; ability to utilize the knowledge in designing new products and services and even improving organizational operation.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
- A degree in a manufacturing or business discipline
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing work instructions
- AutoCAD and 3D modeling experience
- Working knowledge of standard assembly tools and their applications
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Advanced software, programming, & system design knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong mechanical, analytical & problem-solving Skills
- Project management experience
- Strong print reading skills
- Knowledge of safe machine shop tool operation & practices
