We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to support our team in denim and sportswear for kids and women department. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, analytical, articulate, organized and possess strong follow up and follow through skills. The individual must be a self-starter, able to work on their own with out constant supervision and multi-task frequently. Technical Designer will be responsible for creating tech packs for developments and production and be actively involve in fitting and communicating fit comments with factories overseas.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited, the following:
- Establish close partnership with design and merchandising team in order to facilitate the interpretation of design concepts into bulk production
- Conduct fittings on models to determine fit corrections
- Measure all garments to ensure they align with product specifications
- Determine corrections to achieve fit by manipulating garment and/or pattern and flat technical sketches
- Create Technical Packages detailing sewing, points of measurement, graded specifications, wash description, label/hangtag placement, bill of materials, and packaging instructions
- Meet weekly with team regarding sample approval status in order to maintain company time/action calendars
- Identify any technical problems with pre-production samples and follow through to ensure all issues are resolved prior to production
- Interact with factories/vendors to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering through emails.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in production fitting and pattern making
- Must have experience working with denim, woven & knit fabrics
- Should have excellent eye for detail with the ability to stick to the original design sketch and transfer it to a tech pack / pattern, should be very creative and technical. Should implore “fashion sense and eye” while understanding production work flows
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide using all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Ability to demonstrate capabilities through fit test
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and MS Office Suite
- Full understanding of grade rules and tolerances
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
