Senior Technical Designer

We are in search for a seasoned Senior Technical Designer who has a strong knowledge and understanding of garment construction. Must have experience in Missy Cut & Sew Knits/ Woven Tops, Bottoms and Dresses. Candidates must ensure look and fit are executed at the highest level of quality standards. Work closely with Design and Production departments to oversee the fit process including reviewing PPS and TOPS. Must be able to generate very clear and detailed comments for correction for each style. Responsibilities include, but are not limited the following: 

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Design to develop initial tech packs if needed.
• Work closely with our retail partner’s Technical Design team on all fit comments.
• Manage all aspects of fittings, construction and technical issues, and product evaluations.
• Edit tech packs to clearly communicate pattern changes and corrections to the factories. Ensure accurate notes/ digital pictures are made in the fit session.
• Perform accurate pattern corrections for the vendor to follow. Minimize fit rounds while maintaining optimum fit and quality.
• Act as the point of contact for factories and answer questions regarding fit, specs, pattern, and construction.
• Maintain professional and timely daily e-mail correspondence with overseas vendors.
• Execute fit comments in a timely manner to ensure the fit process stays in line with production and action timelines while partnering with the Production team on lead time priorities, where applicable.
• Review grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval.
• Responsible for reviewing pre-production samples for adherence to approved fit and construction standards and executes comments as needed before production.
• Tracks and manages workflow and workload to ensure product areas are maintained with cross-functional teams while partnering with the Design and Production teams on critical priorities as needed.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be detail oriented.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelors’ Degree in Pattern Making or/ and Technical Design.
• Minimum 10 + years’ experience in the apparel industry including patternmaking and construction experience with full knowledge of the production process.
• Excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle shifting priorities throughout the workday.
• Expert pattern making, sewing, and garment construction skills.
• Qualified to revise patterns and/ or build slopers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a plus but not necessary.

Salary:

• $100K-$125K commensurate with experience
