Job Summary:
The EP Lab Technical Assistant is responsible for the removal of arterial and venous sheaths and for establishing hemostasis in patients who have undergone diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in the EP Lab. The EP Technical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the RN.
Position Responsibilities:
Demonstrates technical competency related to sheath removal, communicate complications or abnormal findings to RN or physician.
Maintains stretcher inventory, assists in patient transfers, discharges, and positioning throughout the day to maintain patient flow. Assist with families getting to both waiting rooms.
Maintains POC and telemetry competency, and probe disinfecting process.
Maintains inventory at scrub sinks and holding area, stocks areas as needed, performs various errands as needed, such as blood bank, pharmacy, MR, SPD, and others. Transports supplies to the 3rd and 5th floor as needed. Put stock away if needed.
Check RAS for accuracy on a daily basis and Tip Temp monitoring weekly.
Maintain TEE probe from Heart Station, clean TEE probe. Transport trays to and from central processing.
Support EP lab staff.
