GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position diagnoses, repairs, and completes all the HVAC systems' preventive maintenance at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. This position will also perform general maintenance functions for all preventive maintenance and repairs needed at the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Installs adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems.
- Conducts routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.
- Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation.
- Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment.
- Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams that pertain to HVAC systems.
- Operates and maintains the facility's multiple boiler rooms & appurtenances in a safe & efficient manner.
- Acts as an escort for contracted vendors on HVAC issues.
- Maintains records through the AIM maintenance management software and orders spare parts.
- Plumbing includes the unplugging of sinks, toilets, and drains and repairing or replacing the defective parts associated with the above.
- General maintenance to include snow removal, material handling, cleaning up, and contractor assistance
- Supervises inmate crews to perform preventive boiler maintenance.
- Tool control of shop equipment.
- Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials.
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field.
**Ability to obtain an EPA License
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air handling equipment.
- Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used to install, maintain, and repair HVAC-R equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist
