Position Summary: Newly acquired local tax practice in need of Tax Senior. Will manage day to day operations and team of 6. The Senior coordinates tax, accounting, and financial services to individuals and small/med businesses, including financial planning, investment strategy and implementation. This individual will manage existing client relationships, participate in new business development activities, and help formulate and implement investment and financial planning advice. They will be in charge of day-to-day operation of Houston branch office supporting HQ in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have excellent experience in business development and thrive on building a pipeline as well as growing existing client relationships. Strong communication skills and the ability to be a team player are a must.
Duties and Responsibilities: Leads client engagements and delivers effective and appropriate advice. Serves as lead relationship manager to clients or as back-up relationship manager when needed. Actively listens to client concerns and needs. Proactively communicates, educates, and builds consensus about techniques appropriate for clients to consider, understanding the client's goals/objectives, time frames and risk tolerance. Assists in the implementation of planning techniques with client and advisors. Effectively prepares for quarterly client meetings including development of agendas and action items. Establishes spirit of teamwork and respect with operational teams within the firm. Responsible for highly organized Practice Management activities. Creates, implements, and updates individual Practice Management Plan, participates in practice management meetings and training programs. Works closely with counterparts on new opportunities. Grows client base through intentional Practice Management activities. Pursues new client leads locally and in assigned markets. Communicates to prospects and advisors. Develops strong relationships with client advisors. Anticipated travel is 10-20%.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business or related field with CFP strongly preferred and additional professional designations such as CPA, JD, LLM, PFS, etc. helpful Minimum of ten years' experience in Tax/financial services industry leading client engagements Proven track record of consistent business development Strong working knowledge of state/federal tax, accounting, financial planning techniques, investments, and income/estate taxes. Effective Practice Management leader High integrity is vital on both personal and professional level Team player able to work in a collegial and close collaboration environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills Able to multi-task in a high stress, fast paced environment
