OVERVIEW:
Antelope's Senior Staff Accountant is a key position for the accounting team, with the primary responsibility of ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. The Senior Staff Accountant performs complex accounting tasks, maintains company financial records, completes month-end close duties, and supports tax filings, audits and the development of processes. The role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and will help mold the future of Antelope. This position has the option to be remote or based at our headquarters in New York, NY.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Month-End Close
- Record monthly journal entries
- Review work prepared by Staff Accountant
- Maintain accounting schedules, including Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Accrued Liabilities, etc.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate variances and suggest resolutions
- Provide analysis & explanations for account variances
- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reports as required
- Audit / Tax Support
- Assist with audit requests
- Aid in preparation of information for State & Federal income tax filings
- Assist with Sales & Use Tax Filings
- General
- Contribute to the enhancement and streamlining of accounting processes and procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Support the integration of additional CPG businesses into the Antelope platform
- Support and coordinate work with Staff Accountant
- Complete ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required
- Support other state-level regulatory filings
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably at a consumer goods company
- Experience with preparation of financial statements and strong understanding of US GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with NetSuite or other similar ERP systems (Microsoft, Sage, SAP) perferred
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible team player who can easily adapt to shifting priorities
- Ability to work in fast-growing consumer companies and the systems & processes needed to manage aggressive business growth
- Must love dogs and/or cats (& treats!)
