The Tax Preparer II is responsible for working closely with the firm’s clients to understand and study their global tax situation fully and maximize their tax mitigation strategies within the boundaries of tax law. This will include data entering tax information, reviewing prior year return analyzing the returns, identifying, and inquiring about potential inconsistencies within the return, and requesting missing information.

This position works closely with other team members to ensure that client requests and preliminary draft returns are ready for review within a reasonable timeframe.

Leiman Tax Group is looking for someone with a passion for taxes and problem solving who has experience of working in a tax firm as a Tax Preparer.

The tax team uses Drake Software. We will have prepared over 2,500 returns for the 2022 tax year, with a near 80/20 percent split of individual and business entity tax returns.

The Tax Preparer II primary area of focus is to directly assist the Senior Tax Preparer with the preparation of client returns with scheduled appointments.

Job Duties:

· Maintain Senior Tax Preparer’s Appointment Calendar

· Assisting in leadership of tax team and its problem-solving processes which include tax return preparation (data entry).

· Request and follow-up on missing information for client appointments

· Answering client correspondence promptly and within the firm’s guidelines for client communications.

· Resolve rejected electronic filings & resubmit tax return upon resolution.

Other Duties may include:

· Prepare tax projections for clients, analyze and present to Senior Tax Preparer with detailed notes.

· Review tax returns with clients and rework return (if necessary)

· Absorbing overflow tax preparation appointments

· Research and resolve complex or unfamiliar tax scenarios/questions

· Resolve and research tax notices and other tax or client issues

· Correspond with clients for outstanding invoices, tax return authorization signature forms, etc.

· Stepping in as Interim Senior Preparer in absence of Senior Tax Preparer

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Highschool Diploma/GED

· Must have at least 3 years tax return preparation experience

· Must be able to prepare a tax return from start to finish with the ability to answer client questions and review return with client.

· Must be CTEC certified

· Flexibility to work extended hours during tax deadlines and weekends (during tax season)

· Must have reliable transportation

· Self-starter with attention to detail

· Time management skills

Compensation:

• Based on Experience & 90- day probationary period

• Starting Hourly: $28.00 per hour
