Tax Preparer
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Tax Preparers role is to provide our clients with accurate tax returns. The Tax Preparer will be given a number of assigned clients to work with closely on an ongoing basis. He/she will use their keen eye for attention-to-detail to solve time-critical problems for clients, have strong analytical skills, manage multiple project, and contribute to improving the teams' workflows and processes. Your ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment will be crucial to your success as a Tax Preparer.
Responsibilities
Prepare and submit income tax filings. Prepare and file Federal and State income tax returns for individuals and businesses. The Tax preparer will work with the clients and internal bookkeepers to gather accurate tax data/forms before commencing the prep work. Inform clients on the tax preparation process.
Review and Analyze. Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures, to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns. Analyze tax data submitted by the client to maximize the outcome for the client. Input Data from financial records into tax return software.
Resolve and Communicate. Resolve clients tax issues and respond to tax authority inquiries. Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations. Communicate with clients, tax authorities, and other professionals in a clear and professional manner
Ownership and Management. Able to take ownership of all assigned projects without constant supervision, prioritize the workload efficiently and report to management on a weekly basis.
Internal documentation, workflows and processes. The Tax Preparer will be a key player in updating internal documentation for new and exisiting clients, create efficiences within account management processes, workflows and tools used.
Be the primary point of contact for your clients. Once clients leave the onboarding process, the Tax Preparer is the primary point of contact for all AmzAccountant services. The Tax Preparer will be responsible for ensuring consistent and adequate communication between the AmzAccountant team and the clients regarding any issues. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills needed to manage multiple priorities.
Specific Measures of Success
Submitting returns on-time. Have 90% of annual filings submitted by federal and State due dates.
Average response time to clients. Company policy is to responds to inquires within a 24hr window frame
Completion of online education and training. Complete 3 hours per quarter educational training related to accounting, bookeeping or any other desired topic.
Tax Preparer requirements and qualifications
Great Attitude
Fast Learner
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must have experience working tax seasons as a Tax Professional, at least 2 years.
Proficient in Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Over email, phone and zoom video.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and accuracy in work
Eager to learn new skills and technologies. Great at analyzing data
Comfortable prioritizing and managing multiple clients and projects concurrently.
This is a full-time position during tax season, which at times have longer hours to meet deadlines, with shorter hours in the off-season.
Must be able to prepare 200+ returns, and capable of preparing up to 8-10 returns/day in season as needed.

A Plus
Experience with tax preparation software such as Drake
Bookkeeping experience
Familiarity with Quickbooks software and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Registration with the IRS with a valid PTIN.
