GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
*This position is to start May of 2024*
At Franklin Electric, you will be exposed to a wide variety of corporate tax concepts and challenges from acquisitions and restructuring to complex tax preparation. We have developed a highly collaborative team that shares duties and responsibilities on a daily basis. Everything we do is focused on efficiently and accurately reporting the company's tax obligations while steadfastly protecting the company's assets. This position is responsible for preparing and assisting with the various aspects of the Company's domestic and global tax footprint. This position has the option of being remote 2 specific days a week.
*This position has the opportunity (but is not required) to begin as a Fall 2023 internship and continue into a Spring 2024 internship that would transition into full time employment contingent upon completion of the internship program*
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and assists external tax advisors with US consolidated federal, state, and local tax returns for the company, including related schedules and reports.
- Prepares the annual and quarterly GAAP ASC740 accounting for income taxes analysis.
- Collaborates with Treasury and Legal departments on global cash planning and intercompany transactions.
- Assists with tax aspects of acquisitions, domestically and globally.
- Assists with intercompany transfer pricing and related documentation.
- Advises the company about tax liability issues.
- Reviews sales and use tax returns prepared by external tax advisor and assists with related reports, schedules, and ledger reconciliations.
- Responds to federal, state, and local tax notices and other jurisdictional correspondence.
- Participates in US federal and state tax audits.
- Resolves tax disputes.
- Maintains the company's tax records.
- Prepares US fixed asset tax depreciation records.
- Prepares income tax accruals for estimated payments.
- Prepares monthly general ledger reconciliation.
- Researches tax law, regulations, and deregulation.
- Remains updated on tax changes that may affect the company.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Abilities
- Understands US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Understands complex tax and accounting principles.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as strong time-management skills required.
- Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees to a moderate degree.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required).
- Zero to three years of related experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate pursuing certification (required).
