Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work 3 days per week on site at Denver International Airport, 8500 Pena Blvd. Denver, CO 80249. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You’ll Do

As a Tactical Planner at DEN, you will play a crucial role in optimizing construction activities around airport operations and enhancing efficiency through strategic planning and coordination. You will be responsible for developing and implementing tactical plans to minimize the impact on daily operations, working closely with various airport stakeholders, analyzing data, anticipating operational challenges, and devising solutions to ensure smooth and efficient airport activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • : Develop tactical plans to optimize construction activities around daily airport operations, considering factors such as flight schedules, passenger volumes, and resource availability.
  • : Work closely with project delivery teams, airlines, ground service providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and address operational challenges in real-time.
  • : Utilize data and performance metrics to identify trends, anticipate potential disruptions, and make data-driven recommendations for operational improvements.
  • : Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure optimal allocation of resources, including gates, check-in counters, and ground support equipment.
  • : Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address unexpected events or disruptions to airport operations. Collaborate with emergency services and relevant agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response.
  • : Effectively communicate tactical plans to relevant stakeholders, including airport staff, airlines, and ground service providers. Ensure that all parties are well-informed and aligned with operational priorities.
  • : Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance operational efficiency. Regularly review and update tactical plans based on lessons learned and industry best practices.

About You

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:​

  • Proven experience in airport operations or tactical planning within the aviation industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with airport regulations, safety protocols, and industry standards
  • Excellent negotiation skills; Ability to influence
  • Demonstrates leadership
  • Proficient user in: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Power BI, and Office 365 alternate products
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aviation Management, Operations (preferred, not required)

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including planning, managing, and scheduling projects and preparing and reviewing contract documents
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
