The Systems Engineer – Server and Cloud is responsible for the operations and support of the Server and infrastructure environment of Alera Group both on-premises and public cloud. This individual performs all tasks associated with supporting storage, virtualization, and server systems including standardization, software distribution, break/fix troubleshooting, patching, and inventory.
- Create and maintain server OS standards and automate build processes in vCenter, Hyper-V, and Azure.
- Develop patching standards utilizing Azure Arc, Kaseya RMM, or other tools.
- Windows Server administration, support, and lifecycle management.
- Maintain and support data center infrastructure, including PURE storage, Dell server hardware, and APC UPS/Power.
- Implement and administer systems monitoring solution.
- Build and maintain Azure cloud environment for IAAS and PAAS services.
- Administer Active Directory, Entra ID, and other identity services.
- Contribute to incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, and other ITIL functions as it relates to the server, storage, and infrastructure environments.
- Plan and execute projects around consolidation and migration of acquired firms IT environments.
- Implement and administer file sharing and storage solutions, including NAS, DFS, and Azure Files.
- Operate as a Subject Matter Expert and escalation point for the Service Desk and other IT teams.
- Interface with vendors and partners to evaluate and implement infrastructure solutions.
- Associate’s degree or higher, preferably in an IT, CS, or MIS field.
- 5+ years of experience in Windows Server administration and support in an enterprise environment.
- 4+ years of experience in Active Directory and Entra ID, including SSO and MFA.
- 3+ years of experience in Azure Infrastructure build and support.
- 3+ years of experience in VMWare and Hyper-V.
- Experience managing storage area networks.
- Extensive knowledge of PowerShell and/or other automation and scripting tools.
- Extensive project experience in Server and storage migration, and Active Directory consolidation.
- Extensive experience with networking in a Windows environment, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and other related technologies.
- Ability to be on call and work off-hours, as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated problem solving and customer service skills.
