Systems Engineer I/Ii, Thermal & Structures

Role:
As a Systems Engineer on Orbit Fab's team, you'll provide experience and insight into practical problem solving for complex space systems. A strong candidate will call upon a breadth of experience developing systems under-budget and on time. Your days will consist of leading and mentoring the technical team, development, testing, and production of Orbit Fab's technologies to enable an On-Orbit Propellant supply for the 21st century of space innovation. In particular, you will serve as the technical team lead for the thermal analysis and mechanical structures subsystems.
You bring knowledge and passion in Space Systems Engineering (specifically, experience across both Big and Small space missions at a variety of institutions) or other complex systems. We describe here the skills, qualifications, and responsibilities that we need to have as a team. You don't need all of them. Your aptitude for complex technical challenges and your practical experience designing/building/coding stuff will trump specific qualification or tools any day!
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide Systems Engineering oversight for thermal and structures scope
• Guide technical decision-making and hardware development for related subsystems
• Manage system requirements, performance measures, and budgets
• Guide Systems Engineering process and facilitate technical trades across the system
• Plan and implement simulations and test campaigns to verify system performance
• Identify technical issues and proactively implement resolutions to mitigate program impacts
• Monitor technical integrity of program contributions from team members and subcontractors

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

• Deep expertise in at least one of the following:
  
  • Thermal Analysis
  • Mechanical Structures
• Experience taking a system from concept phase through prototyping, detailed design, assembly, integration, test, and production.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• BS degree and one (1) years of related engineering experience, or
• MS degree in related field, or
• Ph.D. in related field

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with heat transfer, thermal analysis, and thermal control
• Experience with mechanical engineering, structural design, and structural analysis
• Experience with satellite propulsion systems and/or pressure systems
• Experience in satellite design, development, test, and operations
• Experience in Aerospace
• Experience with GEO missions
• MS or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
• Demonstrated use of Jama Connect or other MBSE software
• Experience with generation of verification and validation plans.
• Experience executing qualification campaigns
• Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000
