Lead System Engineer

Auria is looking to hire a Lead System Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO, to support Auria's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Futures Program (PFP) Ground Segment (PFP-GS) Integration (PGI) program. The System Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development and enhancement of the system by driving the system design, integration, and deployment. This role requires a deep understanding of stakeholder needs, conducting system design, performing integration and test tasks, developing and updating documentation, and managing risk. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and collaboration skills, as this individual works closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and shape the design of assigned systems. This position is contingent upon the award of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Futures Program (PFP) Ground Segment (PFP-GS) Integration (PGI) program contract anticipated in July 2024.
This position may support other Auria programs (including classified programs) as identified by Auria program management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Requirements and Design - Lead the design, development, and integration of assigned systems, using a strong understanding of stakeholder needs and requirements to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Develop system architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and detailed design specifications.
• Integration and Testing - Oversee the execution of system testing strategies, including unit, integration, and performance tests to validate that the system functions as intended and meets specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
• Documentation and Communication - Produce essential system documentation and effectively communicate complex technical details to various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Risk and Performance Management - Identify potential system risks, devise mitigation strategies, and monitor system performance metrics, making adjustments as needed.
• Mentorship - Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
• Collaboration and Continuous Improvement - Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, stay updated with industry trends, and incorporate feedback for ongoing system refinement. Liaise with stakeholders, including customers and end-users, to gather feedback and ensure the system meets operational requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current U.S. Government TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship).
• Proven experience in leading the design and deployment of large-scale, complex space systems using strong knowledge of software development life cycles, system architecture, and design principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a capacity to predict, identify, and solve issues efficiently with minimal oversight from program management.
• Ability to create clear and comprehensive system documentation, including design descriptions, requirements specifications, test plans, user guides, and other engineering documents.
• Familiarization with DOD space systems and subsystems, including systems, products, and interfaces across ground and space components.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including the use of industry-standard MBSE tools and methodologies to develop and document complex system architectures and requirements.
• Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and how they interact with software engineering.
• Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills that provide the capability to work independently and within a team.
• Proficiency with M.S. Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience leading system development and validation testing for prototypes with limited requirements and direction from program management.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies in space and communication systems.
• Holds MBSE certification, which may include SysML Object Management Group (OMG), Model Builder Fundamental (MBF), Model Builder Intermediate (MBI) or Model Builder Advance (MBA) Certification.
• Experience performing other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and interacting with software engineering in that role.
• Experience with modern IT infrastructure capabilities, including virtualization, cloud deployment, and containerization.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team using tools to assist system development, such as Jira and Confluence.

SALARY RANGE: $136,000- $219,000
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Senior Principal Engineer (Engineer Level 5): Typically, a Bachelor's degree and 14 or more years of experience or a Master's with 11 or more years of experience
• Corporate Engineer (Engineer Level 6): Typically, a Bachelor's degree and 20 or more years of experience or a Master's with 17 or more years of experienc

• Work Model: Hybrid (In-Office 3 Days a Week)
• Travel: 10% (some travel to Huntsville, AL may be required).
