Support all aspects of the Fairbanks computing infrastructure by maintaining, upgrading and managing our software, hardware and networks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Build and support both physical and virtual servers.
- Ensure that appropriate System and Data backups are executed on a regular schedule and verify backup and restore capabilities.
- Support 3rd party system connectivity to Fairbanks networks.
- Write and support scripts and batch processes.
- Evaluate systems, looking for glitches or disturbances; analyze technical issues; and develop solutions.
- Assist with the daily administration of a server environment.
- Install upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
- Support and enforce a disaster recovery, security, and back up and restore plan.
- Contribute to technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.
- Keep current on knowledge in field of expertise; participate in relevant educational opportunities such as live classes and webinars, read professional publications, network with other professionals, and maintain active memberships in professional organizations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
- This position requires a bachelor's degree in network systems or five years in technical role supporting networks and servers.
- Must have two years of related experience.
- BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
- Knowledge of ERP user maintenance, permissions, and overall administration.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Intune and endpoint management practices.
- Experience in Microsoft Admin Center preferred.
- General knowledge of Linux based servers with a focus on security practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.
- Strong knowledge of security landscape, including types of malware, intrusion risk, detection and prevention, social engineering and end user security training protocols.
- Knowledge of server functions, including ability to create Virtual Machines, scheduled tasks, access authority.
- Knowledge and successful use of Microsoft PowerShell.
- General knowledge of basic SQL server requirements.
- General knowledge of database systems, with focus on SQL database administration.
- Knowledge of Cisco and Cisco Meraki Gateway and switch appliance knowledge and management experience.
- Understanding of troubleshooting utilities and tools, virus detection software.
- Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work with end users.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
