Senior Linux Systems Administrator
Our client is seeking to hire a talented Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join their team on a 4-6-month contract basis with the opportunity to convert to permanent employment status upon completion of the contract portion of the assignment. This position’s primary responsibilities will be surrounding Linux OS administration activities, including system builds, upgrades, patches, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, back-up, and recovery.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Linux OS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE, Ansible, Shell/PowerShell scripting, VMware, SAP, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Linux Administration (SUSE, Red Hat):
- Carry out Linux administration activities including system builds, upgrades, patches, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, back-up and recovery.
- Plan and manage patch management process for corporate Linux Servers.
- Plan, manage and tune monitoring and alerting process for Linux environment.
- Install, configure, manage, and monitor Linux Operating systems on virtualized infrastructure or Azure cloud.
- Implement OS upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users
- Automate administration tasks using Ansible/shell scripts
- Proactively monitor and manage the environment on a day-to-day basis.
- Tune the environments to ensure security, integrity, stability, and optimal performance.
- Provide Linux administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects
- Participate in design and implementation of High Availability configurations.
- Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.
- Research and implement best practices to secure Linux Server environment.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in IT Systems Administration in a Linux Server environment.
- Previous SUSE and Red Hat experience is required.
- Linux OS Administration – system builds, upgrades, patches, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, back-up, and recovery experience.

- VMware or virtualization technologies
- Strong experience managing patch management process for corporate Linux servers.
- B.S. degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience is preferred.
- Red Hat Linux Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), etc. or SUSE certifications (SCA, SCA+, SCE, SCDS) are a plus to have.
The compensation for this position is in the range of $45.00 to $70.00 per hour during the 4-6-month contract duration of the assignment.
