The purpose of this position is to assist with the management of over 100 servers critical to the operations of UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences ranging from central file storage, to servers that handle student applications. This position will also help to develop custom software applications and assist the Information Resources team to meet the needs of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Duties & Responsibilities- Develop, implement, install, maintain and coordinates servers & systems for SMHS campuses and remote sites
- Analyze, monitor and correct systems and server problems
- Conduct research to evaluate new technologies
- Inform and train faculty and staff on new network technology capabilities
- Assist faculty, staff and students in developing expertise in using network resources
- Coordinate network infrastructure with UND UIT
- Ensure compliance with campus and state policies and standards
- Provide support to database servers (hardware/software)
- Act as backup for system administrator
- Identify, research and select technologies or systems to support strategic direction
- Allocate system resources
- Plan, design, program, install and maintain specialized computer systems
- Ensure compliance with software standards and licensing requirements
- Diagnosis and repair of malfunctioning hardware and software
- Support of student computer labs and resources
- Support of video conferencing, video display network and wireless devices
- Responsible for server backups and disaster recovery
- Responsible for vulnerability checking and remediation
- Work closely with SMHS faculty, staff, administration and students to determine their computer needs
- Strategic planning and advice on purchase of computers and software for faculty, staff, administration & students
- Evaluating and selecting server hardware and software configurations for clients throughout UNDSMHS
- Support students, staff and faculty with setup and troubleshooting of applications running on wired and wireless devices
- Provide level 2 support for Active Directory Systems
- Provide customer support for certain applications hosted on UNDSMHS systems
- Evaluation and selecting server hardware and software configurations for clients throughout UNDSMHS
- Work with Application Developer to maintain existing SMHS
- Manage, monitor and maintain company databases

- Knowledge of authentication techniques in websites
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science or the equivalent of associate degree in computer science with 5 years relevant work experience in information technology; OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 3 years relevant work
experience in information technology. - 3 years relevant work experience in information technology.
- Experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 in IIS.
- Experience with Jenkins or other development workflow software for continuous integration and deployment of software.
- Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications- Experience with securing applications and performing vulnerability tests
- Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, and SQL Server is desired.
- Experience with AJAX and JavaScript frameworks is a plus.
- Proficiency with automated testing platforms and unit tests is a bonus.
- Proficiency with Git is a bonus.
- Experience with virtual machines or docker containers in a bonus
- Experience with Linux is a bonus.
