Job Description:
The scope of the IT GEMS contract includes a full range of information technology (IT) services which include necessary hardware, software, and ancillary, components to support enterprise-level programs and environments. Support service areas include program management support, policy, procedures, and operations support, IT core services support, security compliance, customer and client services support, transformational IT support, and application migration support.

HOW a Systems Administrator AdvisorWILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Leads the IBM z/OS Mainframe Support Services team and provides extensive mainframe expertise, technical lifecycle management of the IBM z/OS mainframe, software support, system monitoring, cybersecurity compliance, and performance analysis and planning using our ITIL-based ITSM4Gov approach.
Monitors, patches, and troubleshoots problems, maintaining awareness of available patches, fixes, releases, and lifecycle plans and keeps the Mainframe SharePoint site updated with relevant information. Provides 24/7 on-call support, coordinating closely with the VNOC to address any emergencies or critical issues. Performs daily, weekly, monthly, semiannual, and annual system backups, following DMDC's approved SOPs. Creates and maintains SOPs, TTPs, and KBAs regarding mainframe operations and stores them in our QMS on SharePoint.
Configures, implements, and manages Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and associated servers, coordinating with the VNOC on configurations and Virtual Private Network (VPN) requests. Monitors network components and troubleshoots hardware and software issues to ensure interoperability. Manages active and inactive accounts, ensuring proper access controls and security measures. Collaborates with functional teams, including Transformational IT, DR/COOP and Contingency Planning, and Cybersecurity, to plan and implement system improvements, backups, and DR strategies.
Installs, configures, customizes, and manages Data Facility Storage Management System (DFSMS) for Removable Media Services (RMS) for tape library systems. Customizes Input/output definitions for LPARs, Open System Adapter, and Channel Path Identifier, ensuring proper integration and functionality. Collaborates with the Cybersecurity team to implement security patches and STIGs, maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) status and updating RMF documentation accordingly.
Assists in planning the relocation of the IBM z/OS system, ensuring a seamless transition. As part of our CSI2 program, continuously optimizes processing capabilities and efficiencies through system tuning and other runtime improvements. Produces Mainframe Trend Analysis (Del 66) within 90 days of contract award and updated quarterly thereafter. Performs Mainframe Software updates (Del 67) within 30 days after receipt of software updates.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education:
    • 5-8 years of experience, BA/BS degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • IAT II
    • CompTIA Security+
    • IBM Certified System Administrator or equivalent
  • Security Clearance Level:
    • Active DOD Secret

The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
