System Safety Engineering Lead

Overview
Axient is seeking a System Safety Lead to support our customer at Los Angeles Space Force Base in El Segundo, CA. You will lead a talented group of System Safety engineers providing safety guidance to multiple programs across the Space Systems Command portfolio. This System Safety team provides enterprise support in the areas of acquisition, anomaly and hazards reporting, lessons learned, policy and documentation, training, and planning for space and launch systems. An active Secret Clearance or higher is required to start this position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:

• Lead and assign System Safety tasks and responsibilities to the System Safety team
• Develop, edit, and review System Safety products such as System Safety management plans and System Safety training
• Provide System Safety acquisition support and review/update System Safety policy documents
• Serve as the team interface to various DoD customers and report on team status
• Responsible for contractual product deliverables such as monthly reports, program management reviews, and invoice reviews
• Guarantee on-time, quality products, and customer support
• Report on contract status to Business Unit Vice President
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in a related field such as Engineering, Business, Financial Management, Accounting or Mathematics
• 7 years' experience managing personnel and directing multi-disciplinary technical teams.
• 10 years' demonstrated experience in Department of Defense (DoD) or National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) System Safety and acquisition with a minimum of 7 years of that experience to be in DoD Space Acquisitions
• Experience with MIL-STD 882, 'System Safety'
• Competency in Microsoft tools including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Information Technology (IT) systems and SharePoint-type databases.
• Initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, successful collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel, excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Active Secret Clearance
