Handling of all internal and external communications via switchboard, paging systems, radio systems and emergency alarm systems in addition to clerical duties relating to patient registration and discharge. Receiving and interviewing patients or representatives regarding information necessary for admission; notification of appropriate parties in times of emergency admission. Online registration of emergency room, private ambulatory services and In-patient services.
Two (2) years' clerical experience. One (1) year of switchboard/registration and knowledge of insurance coverage experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent. Computer literate/knowledge mandatory. Ability to type 30 wpm, use calculator, copy and fax machine, and work with numbers. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary departments, physicians and patients. Bi-lingual/multi-lingual preferred.
Verbal ability needed to interview patients and comprehend written instructions regarding various admitting procedures and forms. Clerical perception needed to avoid errors in completing insurance forms and other admitting related documents. Tactfulness and understanding needed in dealing with patients and medical staff.
Good vision. Good hearing. Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms and hands (or mechanical substitutions) to operate typewriter or computer keyboard, answer phones, open file drawers. Must be able to communicate orally.
