Work Location: Melville, NY - Customers Bank works primarily in a hybrid work model coming into the office at least 3-days per week with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday being set days. The expectation is that if you're within a commutable distance to a bank location (within a 50-mile radius) that you will be hybrid.

What you'll do:
Responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Bank's active and growing portfolio of healthcare loans, and for being the senior team member responsible for managing the underwriting process and the loan portfolio. In addition, this role will be responsible for the management of junior team members. The candidate will partner with the Relationship Managers in this lending vertical to identify risk, negotiate amendments/modifications, manage risk ratings and verify loan covenants. The position is fast paced, so it is a necessity to be able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. In addition, the Senior Vice President, Underwriting and Portfolio Management is responsible for ensuring the proper servicing of the loans and borrowers in the portfolio, often acting as a primary or secondary point of contact for borrowers and operators, healthcare real estate owners, and other key constituents.
Key Skills/ Accountabilities

  • Manage junior team members responsible for a portfolio of Healthcare, Structured Finance, and Specialty Finance Loans.
  • Ability to communicate with customers is key to the role.
  • Be able to monitor and proactively manage all aspects of the loan portfolio including the analysis of periodic financial reporting items, loan delinquencies, and loan reviews and extensions.
  • Ability to review and analyze financial information.
  • Visit customers to establish and maintain positive relationships and, where appropriate, cross sell other bank products and services.
  • Actively involved in the community with ability to represent the bank and for personal development.
  • In conjunction with senior RM's, negotiate terms and conditions to successfully close loan waivers, amendments, and modifications.

What do you need?
  • Between ten- and fifteen-years' experience in underwriting and/or Portfolio Management at a commercial bank or similar financial services company, with a progression to senior business unit leadership responsibilities
  • Four-year bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a concentration of either accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to manage time and complete assigned reviews in a timely manner.
  • Detail oriented personality.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Time management, Task prioritization, Multi-tasking, and Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group.

Technology Skills:
  • Basic/Intermediate knowledge of MSOffice products
  • Ability to learn know cloud-based applications quickly
