Job Description
Summary:
The Global Sustainability Manager is responsible for the development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing expansion of AFB's sustainability strategy across all regions. This role is responsible for implementation of policy, development of programs, and performance against goals and KPIs to achieve company and customer outcomes. In addition, the Global Sustainability Manager will cultivate and champion AFB's sustainability culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategy: responsible for leading AFB's global sustainability strategy ideation, planning and execution. Lead Voice of Customer initiatives, programs and policies to support the strategy.
- Culture: lead the global sustainability cross functional team in cultivating a robust "sustainability mindset" as part of AFB's culture and daily work. Help encourage and increase employee engagement with education and programs. Act as a liaison to EBI and connect with EBI Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team.
- Customer Requests: primary point of contact for completing all customer surveys regarding sustainability data, including leading customer audit requests (Ecovadis, Sedex, etc). Identify gaps and opportunities for AFB to develop and implement policies and procedures to improve AFB's reputation as a strategic supplier.
- 3rd Party Certifications - identify appropriate 3rd party certification and/or programs (SBTi, ISO14001, etc) to strengthen AFB's sustainability leadership. Lead coordination of all assessment requirements.
- Goals: set meaningful environmental targets (GHG, energy, water and waste reduction) that support AFB's sustainability strategy and support customers survey requests. Identify an accepted method of measurement that has global implementation application.
- Reporting: collaborate with the marketing communications team on ways to communicate AFB sustainability strategy internally and externally. Primary point of contact for reporting on goals progress, methodology and why they were chosen. Responsible for quantitative data necessary to generate and publish ESG reports.
- R&D Collaboration: product, process and research facility design and operation to enable achievement of sustainability KPIs. Critical to positioning AFB as a sustainability partner of choice.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will not have direct reports.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
- Three (3) to five (5) years related experience or training required
- Major(s): Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering
- Fluent English
Desired:
- MBA is a plus
- Multilingual
