Survey and Mapping Technician Job Summary:
The successful candidate for the Survey and Mapping Technician will be responsible for production of land surveys and supporting documents through close coordination with the firm's professional surveying and engineering staff.
Survey and Mapping Technician Responsibilities:
- Process conventional field notes and digitally collected data, analyze field data, perform deed/utility research, prepare final survey documents/exhibits and interact with survey field crews.
- Embrace new technologies including production of 3D point clouds created from data collected conventionally and with Drones (UAV), LiDAR, photogrammetry and Global Positioning Systems.
- Interpret legal descriptions, survey maps, subdivision plats and construction drawings.
- Compute, process and map field data in an organized and comprehensive manner.
- Perform QA/QC checks on work performed by self and others.
Survey and Mapping Technician Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Training Certifications (CST, MOT, CPR, first aid, etc.) desirable.
- Degree in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, GIS or civil engineering a plus.
- Minimum two years of experience working with surveying and mapping technologies.
- Minimum two years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Word, Excel and Outlook required.
Physical Requirements:
- Required to walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear.
- Required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds at a time individually.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
