Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a senior Avionics Surveillance Systems engineer to design, develop and certify Surveillance Systems (TCAS, ATC, WXR, and ISS) for multiple airplane programs (737/767/777/787). The role includes supporting the system throughout its life cycle from contract negotiation and requirements development through certification, delivery and fleet support.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, WA is seeking a Surveillance Systems Designer Engineer Senior = (level 4) to join the Avionics Design Center Surveillance Systems team.
Position Responsibilities (Level 4)
The roles involve leading Surveillance Systems projects through new development programs (737 MAX and 777X), certification of major changes due to design changes and/or part obsolescence, in addition to providing production/delivery support and in service/fleet support. The Design Engineer will lead a small team to achieve project deliverables and integrate across various teams within Boeing and with multiple suppliers. Good communication and leadership skills is required. The Design Engineer will also be responsible in providing mentoring and training to his team members.
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering with degrees in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
9+ years of experience in Avionics design, development and certification
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in hardware and/or software development, qualification and certification of TCAS/ATC/WXR/TAWS/EGPWS to DO-185, DO-260, DO-317, DO-220, DO-213
Experience showing compliance to DO-178, DO-254, DO-160
Process and Development Assurance to ARP4754
Typical Education/ Experience:
Level 4
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
