The Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator is tasked with efficiently planning and coordinating surgical procedures and related appointments for our medical practice. Additionally, they oversee various aspects of credentialing for professional staff members within the facility. Essential Job description:
- Maintain a master schedule to ensure seamless coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab, and insurance carriers.
- Schedule surgeries and coordinate schedules between the Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
- Gather all detailed information for the patient's chart, including the type of procedure, required supplies, special equipment, and insurance information. Enter all patient information into the computer system.
- Schedule all surgical anesthesia services according to doctor preferences and availability.
- Collaborate with the OR Schedulers, OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, and/or Administrator to determine the status of scheduled surgeries and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Work closely with the Office Manager and providers to maintain approved privileges for each physician and ensure all documents are updated as required.
- Ensure that pre-certifications/referrals are in order for the Insurance Coordinator.
- Complete billing packets on a daily basis.
- Interact appropriately and effectively with all patients and others regardless of age or ethnic background.
- Initiate safe practices and demonstrate knowledge of current center policies and procedures.
- Adhere to specific procedures and practices related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis, and other key policies and procedures.
- Follow all equipment safety guidelines and take personal responsibility for the knowledgeable use and care of all business equipment.
- Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits. Daily post patient payments and sign income sheet.
- Maintain hard copy patient records as well as the files stored in our EHR.
- Excellent in developing and maintaining effective relationships with providers, staff, and the community.
- Bonus payments for top performance.
- Prior experience with insurance authorizations; insurance knowledge is advised, but not required.
- Willingness to learn and build meaningful relationships.
- Written and oral proficiency.
Occasionally:
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs yourself.
- Provide relief for the front business office, Receptionist, and other business functions as needed.
- Cross-train to effectively perform all other schedulers, medical assistants, and receptionist job duties.
- Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on medical providers' availability.
- Visit other offices, present marketing material, introduce services and providers to case managers, schedulers and physicians.
- Assist in presenting MIBSI to Primary Care Providers, physicians' offices and others.
- Knowledge of eClinicalWorks is advised, but not required.
- Microsoft Office Package.
- Knowledge of Google and Microsoft web management systems.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
