Surgery Scheduler needed for busy practice. General knowledge of surgery scheduling, medications, and medical terminology required. We are looking for dedicated employees with the ability to problem solve and multitask while maintaining accuracy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Scheduling surgeries for each doctor
- Going over Pre-op and Post-op instructions with each patient
- Collecting deductibles/costs for each surgery
- Coordinating cases with different doctors when needed (our doctors and/or other specialists)
- Communicating with the hospital schedulers
- Communicating with hospital nurses when inpatient cases are added on
- Communicating with the PA regarding orders for inpatient cases
- Making discs for the hospital/north tower for stealth cases
- Making arrangements for defibrillators to be turned off for surgery
- Going over patient's medications while scheduling surgery
- Knowing what medications will need to be held before surgery
- Making note of patient's blood pressure while in office, and notifying the doctor if the BP is high
- Filling out surgical orders, and faxing them along with the H&Ps to the appropriate location
- Put surgical cases into SCI/SIS/ORDER SMART
- Noting all surgeries in the surgical books
- Answering all patients' questions about surgery/test/referral in a kind/understanding manner
- Checking voicemail and returning phone calls in a timely manner
- Communicating with outside offices daily to update hospital list
- Creating the daily hospital list, and sending it out
- Turn in weekly surgeries
- Create daily clinic schedule (noting where & when doctors will be)
- Scheduling all outside testing (MRIs, CTs, Ultrasounds, etc.)
- Putting orders for outside testing
- Sending referrals to outside doctors
- Keeping logs of all outside referrals/testing to confirm we get results. Requesting results if they haven't been received
Position requirements:
- General Knowledge of ENT surgeries
- General knowledge of different medications
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- General knowledge of medical terminology
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
