Position Summary
The Operating Room Circulator RN utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care during the peri-operative phase. Coordinates total patient care in coordination with other health team members. Functions as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient’s Rights and Responsibilities. Demonstrates professional growth and development by accepting responsibility and accountability for one’s nursing practice. Hourly pay is determined by experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general care that meet psychosocial, physical need, or both simultaneously of the patient in the Operating Room
- Demonstrate ability to communicate to the team any observed changes in patient status
- Maintain awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and patient population
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to the members of the OR team
- Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
- Respond to patient in emergency or physically distressful situations
- Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality
- Meet current documentation standards and policies and completes within shift
- Manage and operates all OR equipment safely and correctly
- Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications.
- Performs thorough postoperative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient.
- Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge.
- Performs discharge teaching to patient and family member/caregiver prior to discharge.
- Performs both pre-operative and post-operative patient phone calls when assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37.00 - $50.00 per hour
