We are currently looking to add an experienced, PACU/Operating Room Registered Nurse who values being part of a team and has experience in plastic and cosmetic surgery. The Registered Nurse functions under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, with appropriate latitude for independent decisions within the bounds of delegated authority and scope of professional practice under Washington State Guidelines. The Registered Nurse performs the practice of professional nursing duties in the care and treatment of patients.

Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice in the state of Washington.
- Must maintain ALS and BLS certification.
- Must maintain Moderate Sedation Certification.
- Minimum of two years specialty related RN experience in operating room setting and in delivery of moderate sedation, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must exercise mature professional RN judgment and attention to detail in performing all aspects of practice.
- Moderate physical strength, good visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity are required in carrying out all aspects of the RN role.
- Must be able to clearly communicate via telephone and telehealth.
- Must possess understanding of medical confidentiality.
- Must possess technological skill regarding electronic medical record and electronic scheduling. Will be responsible for thorough electronic documentation of patient assessment, patient and family education, surgical and specialty procedural documentation, and other relevant clinical and surgical electronic record keeping.
- Must maintain good rapport, and effective communication with clientele and Stern Center staff and physicians. Will incorporate a team effort in providing the highest level of patient care. Always maintains a customer service approach in relating to the public, patients, physicians and other personnel.
- The RN role at the Stern Center requires excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Responsibilities:
- Performs nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the care of all patients undergoing specialized procedures and surgery.
- Provides patient education, assures patient understanding of informed consent by physician and obtains signed electronic consent prior to procedures and surgery.
- Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Obtains ongoing education and possesses comprehensive understanding of related procedures, and expected patient outcomes. Is responsible for recognizing signs and symptoms of urgent and emergent patient issues. Notifies the physician as necessary.
- Has a thorough understanding of indications, contraindications, doses and method of administration of all medications administered by the RN or the physician.
- Acts as Supervised Sedation Professional. Administers moderate sedation under the direction of the physician. Understands all parameters and monitoring of moderate sedation. Maintains Moderate Sedation Certification.
- Adheres to and provides direction and quality control of proper sterile technique and infection prevention, including operating room protocol and sterile instrument processing. Acts as infection control officer (or in partnership with medical assistant) *see separate infection control officer job description.
- Performs post-op surgical staple and suture removal.
- Works as a team with anesthesiologist, OR technician, RNs, and surgeon to provide high quality preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- prepares and evaluates for completeness and safety, all patient surgical requirements. Performs pre surgical visit with patient. Provides patient education. Sends electronic prescriptions. Obtains surgical consent. Admits patients and preps for surgery in an efficient manner, including peripheral IV start.
- Circulates and assists in surgery, assists anesthesiologist with induction, scrub in as needed. Maintains controlled medication inventory log.
- Recovers and discharges patients. Able to perform safe assessment of discharge readiness. Provides teaching to patient’s families.
- Documents all aspects of surgical care in electronic record. Keeps surgical procedure log up to date. Keeps QA for any postoperative complications.
- The RN will assist in laundering linens, cleaning patient rooms, setting up the operating room for procedures and lasers, cleaning operating room after procedures, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and managing the clinic in conjunction with a medical assistant.
- Plans and assists physician and office manager in designing and implementing department programs. Assists in redesigning programs to maintain maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Acts as a resource person to other staff members.
- Assumes responsibility for personal and professional improvement: assumes responsibility for recertification, ongoing education and skill updates.
- Assumes responsibility for quality assurance and QA tracking programs.
- Performs other specialized training and skills at the discretion of and under the direction of the MD

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
