This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Supv Instructional Systems Specialist (VP Academic Affairs) you will exercise responsibility for the College's academic programs, including planning, organizing, coordinating, implementation and assessment of academic programs.Qualifications: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas:
- Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
- Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
- Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
- Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
- Computers in education and training:Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software or distance education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-14 LEVEL: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal service performing duties such as: Serving as an academic administrator in a college or university academic program with overall responsibility for the leadership, management, planning, organizing, and oversight of faculty, staff and programs, including budget planning and management, distance education, coordination of shared governance; administrative experience in serving as an academic administrator, experience in a tribal college and experience teaching in a college or university; direct experience in dual credit and college or university articulation agreements, direct experience in a college or university service as a lead or author for a self-study to fulfill accreditation requirements as well as legal and regulatory requirements for all degree offering programs; direct experience in implementing, applying and evaluations assessment in a college setting.
