SSI is searching for a Senior Space Wargaming, Exercise, and Tactics Specialist located in Albuquerque, NM. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high-performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. The candidate will apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also effectively communicating complex results with management and executive leadership.

In this position, you will provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to our customer at Kirtland AFB, NM. For each project, our customer sets up small, agile, and empowered teams, including program manager, technical specialists, contracting, finance, and security, and they use the right acquisition strategies to set the effort up for success. You will work across all of these teams to represent their programs in the Space Wargaming community.

Role and Responsibilities:
        SME representative to Wargames and Exercises, works with program teams to accurately represent capabilities.
        Attends Wargame alignment meetings and manages scheduling across multiple commands and geographical areas.
        Ensures correct prioritization for equities in wargames and exercises to ensure alignment.
        Participates and advocates for program gameplay and understanding the basics of game design.
        Provide updated material for use in Exercises/Wargames to various mission partners.
        Assists government and contractor teams to ensure that systems are represented accurately and with appropriate levels of fidelity.
        Translate results into simple, actionable recommendations or easily differentiated courses of action.
        Rapidly develops and fields new, highly classified space capabilities for operations, establishes operational and tactical applications, and conducts research to meet emerging space-centric needs.
        Provides detailed analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission-critical challenges/issues.
        Communicate, concisely, and with technical accuracy-oral and written.
        Provides strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff.
        Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
    • Minimum ten (10) years of DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience.
    • Relevant BA/BS degree
    • Relevant MA/MS degree
    • Expert knowledge in Wargaming and Exercise planning and execution.
    • Experience in space operations including planning and execution.
    • Experience in spacecraft, or highly autonomous unmanned systems.
    • Experience in planning and executing test campaigns for space mission systems.
    • Experience in OPLAN, Operations, Exercise employment, and CONOPS development.
    • Knowledge of spacecraft engineering, development, and manufacturing.
    • Understanding of operational environment and corresponding mission user needs.
    • Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) and special access program (SAP) eligibility.
    • No less than two (2) years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience and 1-year total within the last 5 years.
    • Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph.
    • This position is full-time, on-site at Kirtland AFB, NM, and will require travel up to 50% of the time within the continental United States.
Desired Qualifications.
    • Fifteen (15) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience.
    • Knowledge of embedded software for autonomous space operations.
    • Knowledge of payload functionality and interface.
    • Program management experience in space systems.
    • Knowledge of spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) -- comms, propulsion, bus, power and environmental.
    • Experience with ground mission planning architecture and software.
    • Weapons School Graduate
