Support Specialist - Must Have Active Clearance Or Public Trust

JOB DESCRIPTION:  SUPPORT SPECIALIST - LOGISTICS

MUST HAVEACTIVE CLEARANCE OR PUBLIC TRUST

AVATAR Computing, Inc.  is seeking a Support Specialist to support receipting, shipping, and inventory management of items associated with Vietnam War Commemoration (VWC) team planning and promotion of activities and ceremonies to achieve the following VWC objectives:
(1) To thank and honor Vietnam Veterans, POW/MIAs, and families of these Veterans, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States;

(2) To highlight the service of the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and the contributions of Federal agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations that served with, or in support of, the Armed Forces;

(3) To pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front by the people of the United States
during the Vietnam War;

(4) To highlight the advances in technology, science, and medicine related to military research conducted during the Vietnam War; and

(5) To recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by the allies of the United States during the Vietnam War.

The Support Specialist will support the Office of Events as part of a dynamic events coordination team in the receipt, shipping, and inventory management of items. Specific task responsibilities include:

• Perform periodic inventory physical counts and reconcile to system balance for all items.
• Organize and stock warehouse space with items received from manufacturers.
• Coordinate in-coming and out-going shipments from the warehouse with transportation companies.
• Count inventory items received into the warehouse, and report amounts to be entered into the system.
• Transport items from the warehouse to the VWC office.
• Inspect and arrange for repair or replacement of VWC displays and cases.
• Schedule VWC displays to coincide with events ensuring no double booking of items.
• Track shipments of items and engage with transportation companies to locate lost or misdirected items and have them returned to the VWC office.
• Manage lead times for shipment of items ensuring timely or advance delivery.
• Identify and recommend methods to improve warehouse management and shipping
  processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in logistics operations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong business and general analytical skills, such as logistics for incoming supplies, supply management, and statistical reports, with effective communication and interpersonal skills to report this information.
• Job-related logistical support experience in management of office space, supply, IT equipment, and government vehicle operation.  
• Must be able to lift and carry boxes and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.  
• Must be able to operate a manual pallet mover.
• Must be able to work in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled (no heat, no air conditioning)
• (Desired) Basic knowledge of administrative principles, regulations, and operating procedures,
  along with knowledge of standardized DoD logistical practices and procedures.
