Support Services Supervisor
One (1) Full-Time/Exempt/Salary/$65,520.00 - $74,256.00 Annually (DOE)
Pay differentials offered - must qualify through testing or verification for the following special competencies.
*Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish ($1.00 per hour) *Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language - Interpret from American Sign Language (ASL) to English, and English to ASL. ($1.00 per hour)

As the Support Services Supervisor you would support a team of direct service providers working across Lake County. Support services include Enhanced Care Management and Community Support services such as Housing Navigation and Housing Stabilization services. These services are provided for people experiencing homelessness, at-risk children and youth, people with severe mental illness, people with substance use challenges, people with complicated medical needs, and other vulnerable community members.
This is a full-time position working in team, group, and one-on-one settings with Housing Navigators, Integrated Care Managers, Peer Support Counselors, support service providers, community partners, and guests/clients. You would work collaboratively with the Program Manager to support the service team to deliver trauma-informed compassionate services. As the Support Services Supervisor you would work closely with the Shelter Supervisor to support the team working with our unhoused community members. You would also work with the teams at other agency projects to serve children, youth, and adults.
You would be responsible for scheduling, training, and coaching housing, and Support Services program staff to build a team that ensures quality services and care. You would monitor the provision of client services and documentation, providing direct client services as needed. You would work collaboratively with other service providers and agencies to improve access to housing and other resources necessary to improve quality of life.
As Support Services Supervisor you would aid with the expansion and development of housing Support Services and Enhanced Care Management across the county. Seeking candidates with experience with managed care plans, health care systems, homeless services continuum of care, and/or children welfare systems. Ideal candidates are creative leaders who think outside the box and enjoy developing new systems and processes.
This position requires critical thinking and analysis through a racial equity lens, as well as demonstration of compassion, understanding, and empathy while working with diverse staff, guests, and community members.
Education:
- Strongly desired – College degree in social work or related field strongly desired.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a nonprofit social services setting.
- Strongly desired – lived experience with homelessness, mental illness, substance use challenges, child welfare system, etc..
- Strongly desired – experience working with people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use, child welfare system, etc.
- Strongly desired – Experience and/or training in harm reduction, Housing First, trauma-informed, low barrier service environments.
- Preferred – Experience with data management and homeless management information systems.
- Preferred – Experience and professional contacts with homelessness service organizations in Mendocino County.
- Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Other Qualifications:
- Two (2) years driving experience and ability to drive and use personal vehicle for work (including transporting clients) required; must show evidence of current CA driver’s license, appropriate insurance, and vehicle safety inspection.
- Must be willing to work occasional shifts on a weekend day for special events.
- Must be willing to occasionally work on the floor at the shelter to support the guests utilizing the shelter and day resources.
- Must be able to provide 24 hour on-call support to the shelter staff, on a rotating schedule with other facility supervisors.
Training:
- Preferred – Training in harm reduction, Housing First, trauma-informed, low barrier service models.
- RCS provides an in-depth onboarding and training orientation, which includes CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, introductions to all RCS departments, and other valuable trainings.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position may work within ALL other agency programs, consistent with their scope of practice, on a as needed basis. In addition, may require occasional flexible work schedule to meet the individualized needs of each client.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CA Driver's License, Current Auto Insurance, Clean DMV Printout. CPR and First Aid Certified. TB Test and Physical at the time of employment. A subsequent background check is required should you be chosen as a candidate for this position.
