Job description

This position is located in the Department of the Chief Program Officer, Office of AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) in Vicksburg, MS. The NCCC is a full-time, team based residential program for men and women ages 18 to 26. The program is designed to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service.Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-01 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-5 or GS-6 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must include all of the following:
1) Experience maintaining automated tracking systems for inventory management or similar purposes; and
2) Experience reconciling or verifying filling or shipment documents; and
3) Administrative support experience to include activities such as: ordering supplies and equipment; preparing correspondence; working with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.Education: You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable. If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement as defined by being in the upper third of your graduating class; or possessing a 3.0 GPA or higher over four years of education; or possessing a 3.5 GPA or higher during final 2 years of education. Such education must be from an accredited institution and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. You must submit an unofficial copy of your college transcript. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. educational standards. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
