The Role
QuidelOrtho is looking for a Intern that wants to spend their 2024 summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives, One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Our team will help students apply their educational background and broaden their knowledge base within their role and learn more about working in the medical device/biotech industry. Interns will work with a mentor(s) on a guided and impactful project and will be able to collaborate with and be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
This Internship is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid program for 12-weeks.
Cohort 1: May 20th through August 12th
Cohort 2: June 17th through September 9th
This Intern will be onsite in Athens, OH.
The Responsibilities
  • Analyzes MRP demand and makes recommendations on Raw Materials and Finished Goods
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team in facilitating and tracking raw materials lead times from suppliers and update lead times in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with the planning team in facilitating and tracking production lead times for finished goods and components and update lead times in the ERP system.
  • Work with the Master Planner to learn about Product Lifecycle Management
  • Collaborate with purchasing and planning with weekly MRP reviews and assign lifecycle designation to all active materials.
  • Regularly update master data in various MRP fields as assigned.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators on a weekly and monthly basis to track and evaluate inventory efficiencies.
  • Undertake an inventory improvement project aimed at reducing inventory by working with cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver a final presentation on his/her work to a cross-functional group on key findings and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual
Required:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Field of Study: Finance, Supply Chain Management, Data Science or related.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's or Master's program in the Fall Semester 2024 at an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to start on either May 20th or June 17th.
  • Ability to complete a consecutive 10-12 week internship.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred:
  • Rising Junior or Senior at an accredited university or college.
  • Course experience in data science or statistics.
  • Basic understanding of SQL query language and logic.

The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work.
