After operating as a single location for many decades, Home Surplus has expanded to 5 stores in NJ and MD in recent years as it grows into a national footprint.
Position
The Supply Chain Manager - Inventory Planning and Replenishment is responsible for determining and ensuring optimal inventory levels; creating, placing and managing orders to ensure that Home Surplus deliver on its brand promise to the consumer regarding product breadth, depth, and availability particularly in Grab and Go and In-Stock product lines. They will report to the VP Supply Chain Operations. They will build the function in conjunction with company growth. The position is based in Keyport, NJ.
Primary Responsibilities
- Determine optimal inventory levels for all products and categories across the company.
- Manage replenishment cycles for all locations.
- Implement processes that guarantee accuracy, min/max by store, and transfers/movement to drive turns, while making recommendations re slow movers that may require action.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on utilizing technology to achieve inventory goals.
- Lead forecasting cycles.
- Create, place, and manage orders.
- Monitor inventory/order pipeline.
- Anticipate and proactively communicate product arrival and any issues.
- Develop contingency plans for any supply gaps.
- Partner with Merchandising to manage routine interactions with vendors.
- Exceed the expectations of suppliers in order to negotiate preferred production slots, best pricing, and consistent lead times.
- Establish best practices for integrating multiple vendors for like product.
- Bring process and systems discipline to a growing company.
- Collaborate consistently with merchandising, logistics, and operations.
- Collaborate with Finance, Stores, and IT on technology and communications upgrades, enhancements, and plug-ins with minimal disruption to sales and customer service.
Requirements

- 3+ years of experience across replenishment, sourcing, demand planning or similar disciplines.
- NetSuite user, or someone who brings experience with a similar ERP platform.
- Experience in home improvement, building products, or related space will be advantageous. Looking for retail and distribution backgrounds, not manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Must work at our Keyport campus. No hybrid or remote work will be considered.
