Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for managing the activities related to purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and compliance; as well as directly managing the purchasing and warehouse functions. The Materials Manager is also responsible for implementing Supply Chain processes that supporting business strategies, new business opportunities, and cost reduction strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 9001/13485, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes).
Material Supply Chain Oversight
Core Responsibility
- Oversee daily activities of material procurement.
- Select vendors and create relationships with key vendors.
- Obtain required material data, including pricing, for new and existing parts
- Purchase materials as necessary.
Warehouse Management
Core Responsibility
- Oversee and support daily shipping and receiving tasks as necessary.
- Manage logistic account relationships.
- Oversee cycle counting processes.
- Manage the receipt and storage of materials within the TLC warehouse.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize space utilization and warehouse layout.
Part Management
Core Responsibility
- Create new organizations and components within the ERP system as needed.
- Develop and maintain ERP inventory structure.
- Monitor and maintain stocking levels on distribution components.
- Oversee part entry accuracy, inventory adjustments, and shipping/receiving transactions in ERP.
Communications
Core Responsibility
- Create, track, and report KPIs to management and leadership teams.
- Provide continuous communication to stakeholders within the company regarding open actions.
- Lead communication with suppliers on part related issues
Employee Oversight
Core Responsibility
- Build a high-level materials and warehouse team.
- Ensure high morale of team.
- Ensure all safety and GMP standards are followed.
- Monitor employee performance and attendance.
- Manage forklift certification program as on-site trainer.
- Serve as active backup for all material department positions.
Production and Engineering Support
Core Responsibility
- Oversee quoting activities related to new product Supply Chain, new part setup, vendor contact, ect.
- Provide vendor selection and pricing for new projects.
Provide support to Production team with material issues (shortages, non-conforming materials, etc).

- Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance.
- Computer skills to include: Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong ERP system experience.
- Experience operating a standup style forklift.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in Materials or Supply Chain with at least 2 years in a supervisory / management role in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- APICS certification desired.
- Current forklift certification.
- Database and query building experience desired.
Physical Requirements/Capabilities:
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and the ability to talk and hear.
- Ability to frequently sit for prolonged amounts of time, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm's length, climb or balance, stoop or bend, push, pull, kneel, and crouch as job requires.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
