- Drives supplier performance on quality and delivery.
- Communicates extensively with suppliers to foster a positive partnership while assuring compliance to drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
- Conducts Supplier Quality system, process, and product audits.
- Reviews supplier FAIR & PPAP submissions.
- Works with suppliers on process evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
- Leads team(s) on root cause analysis for quality issues. Acts as a coordinator of the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process
- Reviews Control Plans and other supplier documentation for accuracy and adequacy.
- Supports Supplier Qualification/Approval and problem resolution.
- Performs Source Inspection at suppliers’ site as needed.
- Determines training needs, and provide training as required. The goal is to refine and enhance suppliers’ processes by applying continuous improvement principles and techniques.
- Establishes methods for supplier performance reviews and scorecard.
- May also work in the following areas:
- New Product Quality Conformance
- Supports quality in new product processes by serving as member and/or resource on development teams.
- Writes, executes and reports test plans based upon scientific methods to support the new product process and on-going testing.
- Ongoing Quality Conformance
- Provides receiving-inspection technical support and writing/reviewing receiving-inspection procedures.
- Leads the material review board (MRB) and implements corrective actions internally and externally with suppliers.
- Supports and or provides input for published monthly performance reports as well as identify areas for improvement.
- Support engineering solutions to quality assurance.
- Plans, controls and ensures process and product quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems.
- FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
- Understand issues through progression.
- Testing and supplier interaction.
- Internal CAR if needed for understanding of diagnosed issue.
- Lead FMEA projects.
- Environmental
- Provides support in our efforts to continually make products greener by supporting our Environmental initiatives.
- Vendor/supplier interaction
- Plans, conducts and report audits of suppliers.
- Interfaces with suppliers concerning quality issues and represent Johnson Outdoors’ interests.
- Evaluates defective parts returned from the field.
- Ensures compliance to all company quality policies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business, math, science or equivalent.
Experience: Typically requires 2 or more years of experience in quality engineering within a similar industry.
