We are looking for a Manufacturing Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Critical Handling Solutions (CHS) business segment. This team specializes in designing and building a variety of high performance, high reliability custom crane and lifting equipment. We serve several diverse industries including aerospace, nuclear test laboratories, commercial nuclear plants, and various other industries that have a need for the most advanced lifting systems that are possible. Success Criteria
The individual in this position will work directly with engineering, manufacturing and PAR's supplier base to develop, evaluate, and continuously improve system designs and manufacturing methods by utilizing their knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Your experience and interest in the following will set you apart and allow you to hit the ground running:
- Providing feedback to design engineering during design reviews and lessons learned meetings to aid in manufacturability of designs
- Driving design improvements for manufacturability by serving as interface between PAR design engineering and PAR's fabrication suppliers
- Providing first-line technical support and management of PAR's suppliers for communication of design, quality and documentation requirements in drawings or other manufacturing documentation
- Converting engineering and contractual documents into written fabrication or manufacturing plans for PAR's supplier base to ensure consistent execution of product manufacture while meeting all design and quality requirements
- Working with interfacing groups (primarily design engineering, planning, and manufacturing leads) to continually improve best practices for documentation
- Evaluation of fabrication suppliers with regards to capability and quality control systems
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associates or BS in Material Science, Engineering or related field, preferred.
- 5+years of relevant work experience such as
- Welding operations including design, workmanship, qualification, inspection, and documentation (familiarity with AWS D1.1 and AWS D14.1 preferred, Certified Welding Inspector a plus)
- Working in a quality driven manufacturing environment with processes related to welded fabrications, machining, paint, and assembly; familiarity with ASME NQA-1 preferred.
- Reading engineering drawings in relation to fabrication and assembly with a high level of expertise and communicate with manufacturing personnel and suppliers
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks)
- Strong organizational and communications skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
- Typically expect travel not to exceed 10%, but up to 25% travel may be required periodically.
- Willingness to travel to supplier sites to support evaluation of supplier capability and qualification.
