Careers for the Driven
In this role you will work closely with global supply chain COE, global quality, purchasing, technology, product management, and other key stakeholders to support and strengthen suppliers/third parties and provide high quality products and services according to Valvoline Global requirements. This Supplier Quality Engineer role will support and strengthen overall Supplier Quality activities across Valvoline product portfolio. This includes lubricants, coolants, chemicals, ancillary products e.g. oil filters, wiper blades, air filters, etc.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Apply Supplier Quality principles for preventive and corrective actions to address quality concerns.
- Work closely with global supply chain COE, global quality, purchasing, product management, technology and suppliers/3rd parties to resolve quality related issues.
- Assess and support effective containment actions to protect the customer while determining supplier root cause and corrective actions
- Support tracking of costs of poor quality due to supplier defects of errors.
- Assess and support supplier process improvement initiatives.
- Work on Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) issued for defects or errors caused by vendors/ 3rd parties. SCARs are the primary mechanism used to drive root cause, corrective action and track quality performance of our third party suppliers.
- Support supplier/3rd party quality assessment visits (QAV) for initial qualification of vendors or, on-site follow up in the event of a critical supplier related concern or product defect.
- Support and strengthen ISO-9001 Quality Management System, such as procedure writing, performing QMS audits, management review, documentation review, develop PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.
- Support and strengthen Valvoline Lean program and A3 improvement projects, Kaizen events, applying lean tools e.g. Fishbone analysis, Value Stream mapping, Time & motion studies, etc.
- Role will be a combination of desk work and in a manufacturing environment at third party locations.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time based on it’s discretion.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline.
- At least two years of experience in an engineering/technical or quality field.
- Experience working with data, databases, generating graphs, charts, data analysis.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
