The following position is open: Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer


At Custom Microwave Inc., A Vitesse Systems Company, we design, engineer, and manufacture world class antenna solutions for satellite applications. Helping our customers put stuff in space is our specialty, and we have a blast doing it. Which is where you come in: We have an opening for an out-of-this-world Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is an internal leader responsible for administering and improving all aspects of CMI supplier selection and control processes. The primary responsibilities of the SQE are to support the QA Department’s mission to verify compliance with requirements and to facilitate company-wide improvements

What You’ll Do (Essential Job Functions):

  • Develop and grow multi-level relationships with customers, suppliers, auditors, and other interested parties.
  • Ensure supplier selection and control processes within QA are followed and documented; develop and implement improvements.
  • Facilitate company-wide process definition, measurement, and improvements.
  • Accountable for communication and collaboration to facilitate company-wide process improvement.
    • Accountable for development and execution of key process improvement initiatives.
    • Lead supplier audits to document CMI supplier compliance with internal and external requirements; provide internal CMI customers with risk assessments and mitigation plans based on audit results.
    • Lead internal audits to document CMi compliance with internal and external requirements; support external audits to verify compliance.
    • Lead Corrective and Preventive Action process to drive high-impact process improvements related to suppliers.
    • Lead Nonconformance process to ensure efficient control and disposition of nonconforming outputs, focused on supplier nonconformances.
  • Measure and report key schedule, delivery, and cost metrics for the Processes above.
  • Measure and report performance of the QA department in a way that meets all requirements and needs of internal and external customers.
  • Measure and report on effectiveness of key improvement processes.
  • Support and report internal and external schedule/delivery compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring (Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Proficiency preferred in industry quality standards, such as: AS9100, ISO9001:2015, and NADCAP
  • Basic proficiency required in ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and drawing interpretation
  • Proficiency required in internal and/or external audit to international standards

Your Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
    • o Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted with four years of directly related experience.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a related role.
  • Must provide proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency to comply with ITAR regulations.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen per Custom Microwave, Inc.’s drug testing policy.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check per Custom Microwave, Inc.’s policy.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The manufacturing facility is more than 56,000 square feet. Workers may be exposed to loud noises, chemicals, and other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment may be provided by The Company and at request.

  • Must be able to work at a computer workstation 50% of day.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery; repetitive motions include, but are not limited to, keyboarding and data entry operations.
  • Must be able to intermittently stand and walk for longer than 30 minutes throughout the work shift.
  • May require occasional utilization of stairs and/or ladder.
  • May require occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and crouching to access work supplies.
  • This position involves extensive internal and external communication; ability to utilize a phone and convey accurate information in person, over the phone, and through email.
  • Must be able to see in artificial/fluorescent lighting.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Job Information:
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is eligible for the employer-sponsored benefits listed under "CMi is Proud to Offer." This position is considered exempt (paid on a salaried basis and ineligible for overtime pay).

Pay range: $75,000-$100,000 based on qualifications and experience.

Vitesse Systems, LLC performs work controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These statutes require the protection of technical data and products. The regulations require that such data not be disclosed in written, oral, or visual form to any foreign national without prior export authorization from the Department of State.
